RTCT Reality Therapy/Choice Theory Therapist (USA)
I support my clients in working through their challenges in the areas that may most likely benefit from some more work in a compassionate, thoughtful and non-judgemental way. The aim is to provide sessions that are an emotionally safe space for you to explore your feelings, thoughts, and sensations and work to improve your life. I aim to provide you with a warm, friendly service experience.
I believe that we are all one human family and that everyone is capable of, and deserving of, understanding, compassion and care. It is my mission to assist those I see, whether individuals, couples or families, so as to develop feelings of emotional safety and security; help bring forth their wisdom; to develop and maintain greater compassion and to express the power of health and well-being. I am committed to an ongoing program of professional development that increases my understanding and skill in the use of research-based assessment techniques and intervention strategies. I believe in utilising the logical relationship between evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence, to best serve you.
My understanding of adolescents comes from working for many years earlier in my career with the child, adolescent and young adult population, their teachers and parents across two states – NSW and ACT – as a school psychologist, and senior school psychologist serving the school population from pre-school to Year 12 in both government and private school settings. I hold post-graduate qualifications in Special Education and worked extensively and intensively in this area with all types of physical; emotional; sensory; intellectual; and, speech and language difficulties from pre-school to Year 12. I also worked as: a secondary school teacher; a university lecturer; in private practice; a rehabilitation consultant; an organisational psychologist; and, a clinical manager in a large multi-therapist private practice. I have worked with individuals; couples; families; groups; and, organisations.
I counsel clients in the warm home-like office setting or, where appropriate, via teletherapy online connection.
